Saturdays Surf NYC Spring sample sale starts Thursday at noon at 168 Bowery:
The Gant end of season warehouse sale kicked off today at 260 Fifth Ave. Unlike Gant’s sample sales, this sale is entirely made up of the Fall/Winter 2013 line. Everything is 70% off the original price effectively making this a Gant final clearance sale with prices a little better than what you’ll find online right now. The sale features men’s clothing and accessories in all sizes mostly from Gant by Michael Bastian and Gant Rugger . The selection is heavy on outerwear, blazers, and pants. There was only one rack of medium-sized shirts (more available in other sizes) and there was a surprising amount of mainline Gant shoes. Highlights include some items that are currently sold out online like the Gant Rugger Homerun Jacket and the Floral Pocket Square. You won’t find any new Spring 2014 items, but if there’s something from the Gant Fall line that you’ve had your eye on, now’s the time to get it.
The Patrik Ervell Sample sale kicked off today at 35 Howard St. Inside you’ll find current and past season items with prices that depend on the season. The best deal to be had was older season white jeans for $40 (all in size 34). The Spring 2014 items were discounted less with t shirts like the White Forest Print or the Floral Print running you $90 (normally over $150). Many items at the sale are over $100 and the past season items (including Winter 2013) included most sizes XS and up. Like last time, it’s a good sale if you like Ervell, but not if you’re just out looking for a deal.
Some Eastland boots in green+camo ($30) and blue (~$60). As well as a lot of Keds menswear for mostly sub-$100. Other than that, mostly just a whole lot of expensive neon.
If you’re in the market for Cheap Monday jeans, head to The News Showroom at 495 Broadway in Soho where you’ll find several racks in sizes ranging from 30-34. They also carry menswear from Highland (priced under $100 except for coats), Tim Coppens (priced mostly over $100), and Officine Generale (mostly around $100). There is also some nice stuff from White Mountaineering including jackets in sizes 2-4 starting at $200 and going up to $400 for a really nice GoreTex lined jacket with taped seems. In footwear, the hypebeasts will be pleased to find Common Projects sneakers (including the track shoe in red and blue) from $175-$195 in sizes 40-46, Folk shoes and boots from $125-$175 as well as White Moutaineering x Saucony.
The Peregrine Showroom sale is happening now. Lots of current season Oliver Spencer knits ($100), shirts ($60), jackets ($200), coats ($250), and trousers/jeans ($90). Also some nice Sandqvist bags (priced mostly around $100), August Fifteenth wears (everything $60 except coats/jackets), and more from Gilded Age, Chimala, Whillas & Gunn, and Il Bussetto. Almost everything here is sized medium or 32 waist. However, some of the coats are cut larger or smaller so you may want to try your luck even if you’re not a sample size. And just like last year, they also have a friendly, energetic dog prowling the floor.
The Peregrine Showroom sample sale starts this Thursday at 89 5th Ave, Suite 902. The sale runs through Sunday from 10am-6pm everyday except Sunday (11am-5pm). They’ll be carrying men’s and women’s OLIVER SPENCER, CHIMALA, WOLF VS. GOAT, SANDQVIST, IL BUSSETTO, WHILLAS & GUNN, GILDED AGE, and 8.15 AUGUST FIFTEENTH. We found the last one was worthwhile.
Tl;dr - It’s just as good as the last one.
The Gant sample sale is underway now at 225 Fifth Ave. We were a little worried this sale was just going to be leftovers from the last one since it’s run by 260SampleSale but in a smaller space down the street. Rest assured though that it’s just as good as last time. Prices are pretty much the same with outerwear ranging from $75 for quilted vests to $300 for leather. Pants are $50 and blazers are $195. There were plenty of current season Items from both Gant Rugger and Michael Bastian including the Chamois Button Down ($45), the Cashmere Pocket Sweater, and Gant Rugger Cablecito sweaters in various colors (sweaters are $50). Pro tip:
As with all sample sales, be sure to check items before purchasing. I was about to purchase a pair of jeans until I noticed it was pocked with holes in the back and one pair of pants was hemmed to about a 28” inseam. Oh yeah, and there are no fitting rooms.
I’m not a huge fan of Rag & Bone, but if you are, be sure to check out their early access fall sale today online:
Get the Blade IV pants for $145, most shirts for $110, and jeans for $100-$135.
